wanted to draw charley with her sword
[ID: Two images. The first is a digital illustration of Charley Pollard from the Big Finish Eighth Doctor Audios, wearing a blue dress and hair ribbon styled after Disney’s Alice in Wonderland movie, holding a sword and looking off to the side towards the camera with a hazy blue and black background. Charley has chin-length blond hair and light blue eyes. end ID]
I love how she is clearly just singing along and having fun, and yet he obviously still says ‘What’s that?’ as if he doesn’t know she wants him to join in.
Well most people when they don’t understand something they frown. You… smile.
there sure are some specific fic exchanges out there
ive been watching classic who for a few months. for those of you who dont know anything about it, have some fun facts
- it’s implied that the fourth doctor can fly. he dies from… falling.
- the first doctor is down for murder. he tries to bash a caveman’s head in with a rock
- the second doctor gets accused of embezzlement
- the third doctor evades taxes
- the master watches a kids movie and mistakes puppets for an alien species
- the master summons a demon and it’s never mentioned again
- the master summons kronos and it’s never mentioned again
- the master gets possessed by furries and it’s never mentioned again
- the master gets kicked in the dick at least once
- the second doctor meets the third doctor and they spend most of their time yelling at each other. then they meet the founder of timelord civilisation and kill him
@animate-mush you’re my resident classic who expert. Can you confirm?
- “City of Death” is flying, “Logopolis” is falling
- “An Unearthly Child” aka very first episode. It’s Early Installment Weirdness and we tend to overstate it, but he does ALSO brain a guy with a shovel and box a roman until his companion chases said roman out a window with a vase, so while he would never ever ADMIT to being down for murder (and is frequently vocally against it) …he kind of is, yeah
- I don’t remember the embezzlement specifically but I would believe it. What’s surprising here is the implication that he’s not actually doing it
- not a specific instance but all his paperwork is faked so like. Yeahhhhh. I think it’s more that he wouldn’t dream of paying taxes, but technically it’s other people evading them for him. Ironically he has a government job.
- “the Sea Devils.” It’s Clangers. In the new series he does this again with teletubbies
- “the Daemons.” His name is Azal.
- “the Time Monster.” I cannot express to you enough that this is literally the least strange thing that happens in that episode. Summoning weird things is super normal for the Master.
- “Survival.” It’s the last episode of the show. He’s less possessed by furries than he is possessed by the sort of weird genius loci deal of some planet and as a result becomes a furry. There’s not like some other furry somewhere else that’s possessing him. For that you’d want something more like “Meglos,” but that’s not the Master and it’s less a furry than a cactus.
- “Mark of the Rani”
- “the Three Doctors.” And, to a lesser extent, “the Five Doctors.” Yeah it. uh. Happens TWICE.
TBF for Two to actually commit embezzlement someone would have had to actually have put him in some kind of position of responsibility.
Good point!
Do you remember the embezzlement? I can’t think of crossdressing, identity theft, regular theft, impersonating a government official (sooooo many times), recorder crimes, stealing a holy artifact, writing fanfiction, espionage, mind control and murder, but embezzlement isn’t wringing any bells…
Not off the top of my head, but my knowledge of Two’s era isn’t encyclopedic. Maybe it occurs during one of the impersonating a government official stints?
Unless there’s another time that I’m forgetting, I’m pretty sure that’s referring to The Three Doctors, when the Brigadier sees the inside of the TARDIS for the first time and his response is “So this is what you’ve been doing with UNIT funds and equipment all this time”. Technically Three would have been the one doing the embezzling, but Two is the Doctor actually present in that scene and neither of them have bothered to explain to the poor Brig how regeneration actually works yet.
Never over the way Turlough’s arc just reenacts the Doctor’s character arc over his first three lifetimes in a slightly altered order.
- Child of a corrupt society, ending up at odds with them
- (and even though this wasn’t canon at the time, please note Listen’s “doesn’t want to be a soldier” next to Turlough having some kind of military rank but being accused of “still running away.” And being characterized as “running away” in general, of course)
- Exiled to Earth (under the Brigadier’s supervision), hates it there and stews about having to live among a bunch of humans (Three)
- When we meet him, is motivated by desperation and self-interest, shows little regard for others’ welfare, and in fact tries to kill a man by braining him with a rock (One)
- Gradual process of learning to have friends and embrace his better impulses (One)
- Lying, refusing to talk about himself, and acting like he wants to go home while also desperately afraid of his own people (One & Two)
- On landing in a situation where a number of innocent people are going to die (and it’s partly his people’s responsibility), he sacrifices his freedom by calling his people in to rescue the innocents, and accepting that he will no longer be able to hide from them (LITERALLY War Games)
The big discourse on twitter right now is that writers going on strike or cancelling their own series are breaking an invisible “contract” they made with their fans and all creators owe their fans a satisfying conclusion to their stories.
Actually all fans owe all creators for entertaining them and if a creator says “I don’t want to perform this labor anymore,” then regardless of the cliffhanger that leaves you with, your only response should be “take care! Thank you for all your hard work!!!” :)Like it or not… this.

make me choose: @pers-books asked Silver
or Sapphire. The thing is … I have watched the entirety of Sapphire and Steel for David Collings and for David Collings alone – and I do not regret it. In its very own way, it is a great show. But even after several re-watches, I still have some questions concerning the stories premise.
The best reason to watch Sapphire & Steel! And I think we all have questions: it seems to quite deliberately be an enigma. Even PJ Hammond says he doesn’t know who or what the leads are. The most mysterious and beautiful series of them all!
All Irregularities will be handled by the forces controlling each dimension. What’s not to get?
Forgive the further reblog adn also all the tag c+p, but I’m loving everyone’s responses here:
@animate-mush #sapphire and steel#honestly yeah I thing the mysteriousness is the point#well that and david collings being beautiful
@yesalwayswelles #david collings#silver#sapphire and steel#tv#my light up a room boi ✨️
@basiltheratatouille #‘I still have some questions concerning the stories premise.’#I feel you#that should be our lil community’s motto#no one knows what the show is about and tbh I think that’s part of why it’s so good#david collings#sapphire and steel#writers going who the fuck knows? not me is my favourite genre
